School and Library Visits

"You immediately hooked the audience with your honesty, charm, wit, and personal story. The kids were eager to follow your lead as you engaged them in conversation and writing."
- Pamela Moriarty, River Forest District 90

"They loved how you made them laugh. You inspired them in many ways, some want to write, some want to read, some want to play music, some want to teach others to read, etc."
- Beverly McBrayer, Hall Fletcher Elementary

I have a background in K-8 teaching and an enthusiasm for inspiring and interacting with kids.

My presentation, "JUST KEEP PLAYING", includes plenty of interaction with the audience, and tells the story of my odd, pitfall-laden journey to becoming an author. A few lucky kids may even get to play a drum! (Suitable for any size audience)

I also have a writing workshop on "DESIGNING CHARACTERS HEROIC, SCARY, AND SILLY" that will get the kids creating their own unique characters with the help of pictures and good old imagination. (Ideal for groups of 15-30)

$350 for a half day (up to three presentations/school assemblies and a book signing session)

$600 for a full day (up to six presentations/school assemblies and a book signing session)

  • Travel and accommodations should be covered for visits outside the Chicago Metropolitan Area.
  • I ask that you work with either a bookseller or myself in advance so that students are able to  pre-order books ahead of time or purchase books on site.
I also offer free 20 minute Skype visits, but availability for these is limited so get in touch as soon as possible.

Email for availability.
